Chelsea S. Herring was born in Wichita, Kansas. She was admitted to the Missouri Bar and the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri in 2001, and the Kansas Bar, the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri in 2002. Ms. Herring completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas, where she obtained a B.S. in Business Administration in 1997. Ms. Herring attended law school at the University of Missouri - Kansas City and obtained her law degree in 2001. She was also a member of the University of Missouri - Kansas City Law Review.
Ms. Herring is currently a member of the Ad Hoc Rules Committee for the Western District of Missouri, which drafts local bankruptcy rules. In addition, she was appointed to the Bench Bar Committee to draft local rules for the District of Kansas. She is currently a member of the following bar associations: The Missouri Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, American Bar Association, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, Association of Women Lawyers, Topeka Area Bankruptcy Council, Kansas City Bankruptcy Bar Association, and National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees.
